My Leadership Style
Personalized Professional Learning for Future Ready Leaders: Assessment Summary
I believe my personal skill in collaboration is pretty strong but could use improvement. Luckily, my school and district has some great technology there for teachers and learners to utilize but we lack training and understanding at some points.
An example of how my leadership style is developing and evolving is that I am having the opportunity to give my ideas and I can tell my team is stopping and listening. I feel more confident and empowered in my opinion. For example, I have started to invite other teachers into my room to watch me utilize techniques that are district is trying to implement such as readers and writers workshop.
One thing in my leadership style that I could improve upon or adjust is honing on one specific, important, skill that can give my team a lot of "bang for our buck" and sticking to teaching and guiding that. Sometimes, I get excited and give too many suggestions and I can see other teachers getting overwhelmed and understandably so. I think the hard part will be to assess before hand what is the best task to guide though.
One thing that I believe is a strength of my leadership style is that I believe I am good at having a positive attitude and encouraging others to take risks and that it is okay if it doesn't work out. I try to do this through taking risks and trying this myself and I think that other teachers on my team have taken notice.
